Privacy Policy
Effective September 30, 2026
Look Alive helps you discover clothing that matches your taste. This policy explains what personal information Look Alive Technologies Inc. (“Look Alive”, “we”, “us”) collects through the Look Alive app and shoplookalive.com, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. Look Alive Technologies Inc. is based in Ontario, Canada, and offers the service in Canada and the United States.
Questions or requests: support@shoplookalive.com.
Information you give us
- Account details. Your email address or phone number, a password if you sign up with email, and an optional name.
- Style setup. Your shopping lane (women’s, men’s or everything), anything you type to describe your style, your reactions to sample pieces, and any photos you choose to upload as style references.
- Feed activity you choose. Pieces you save, hide or add to a look.
- Social profile (optional). Your handle, display name, bio, profile photo, and privacy and discoverability settings.
- Things you post or do socially. Outfit posts and their photos, captions and product tags; comparisons you ask and votes you cast; likes, follows, follow requests, reports and blocks.
- Try-on. A body photo you choose to save for try-on, and the preview images we generate for you.
- How you heard about us. If you answer the question at the start of setup, which option you picked and anything you type in the optional box. You can skip it.
- Messages to us. What you send when you email us or join the website waitlist.
Only upload photos you have the right to use. If other people appear in a photo, make sure they are comfortable with it being used this way. The app uses only the photos you pick; your phone controls photo-library and camera permissions.
Information collected when you use Look Alive
- Identifiers. Your account ID, a random ID for a setup started before you create an account, and session tokens.
- Usage. Pieces and posts shown to you and how long they stay on screen, taps, saves, hides, searches, filters, retailer link opens, and onboarding progress.
- Technical information. IP address, app version, device platform, request timing and error details. We use these to run, secure and fix the service, including limiting abusive request rates.
- App Store ads. On iPhone, the app asks Apple once whether you installed it after tapping one of our ads on the App Store. If you did, Apple tells us which of our campaigns, ad groups and search keywords it was, the country, and the date of the tap. Apple doesn’t send us your advertising identifier or anything else that identifies you, and no tracking permission is involved. We use it only to see which of our ads work.
- Website. Our website doesn’t use advertising or analytics cookies. We count page views with Vercel Web Analytics, which records the page, the site or link that sent you there, and your browser, device type and country. It doesn’t use cookies or follow you to other sites, and it doesn’t record pages from our email sign-in links. If you vote on a shared comparison without an account, we store a random voter token in your browser so each browser counts once.
- Website games. If you play a game on our website (“dupe or designer?”, “who do you dress like?” or the expensive taste test), we store your answers, any first name you type, and a random player ID kept in your browser. For the taste test we also note the US state or Canadian province your IP address points to, so we can count results by region; we don’t store the IP address with it. To stop one network from flooding the results, we also keep a scrambled code made from your IP address, which can’t be turned back into it, for two days.
We don’t collect your precise location or contacts, and we don’t use your device’s advertising identifier. The app contains no third-party advertising or analytics code. We don’t track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
Photos and AI providers
Some features send your images to outside AI providers. They process them on our behalf to do only the task described here:
- Style reference photos (onboarding). We send photos you upload during setup to Google’s Gemini models through Google Cloud Vertex AI, which runs in the United States. Gemini describes the clothing and style in them. Our own models also turn the photos into style signals that we match against products.
- Try-on with your photo. When you choose to create a try-on preview with your own photo, we send that photo and the selected product images to OpenAI to generate the preview. We ask for your permission in the app before sending a photo of you. If you choose a mannequin figure instead, no photo of you is sent.
Outfit posts and profile photos are stored so we can show them to the audience you choose; we don’t send them to these AI providers. These providers may keep data for a limited time under their business terms, for example for security and abuse monitoring. Generated images and recommendations can be inaccurate. Try-on previews show style, not exact fit or size.
How we use information
- To create and secure your account, and to send sign-in codes and account emails.
- To build your style profile, rank your feed and search results, and remember your choices.
- To run social features, including showing your posts to the audience you choose, and to create the try-on previews you ask for.
- To keep the community safe: to review reports, enforce our Terms, and prevent spam, fraud and abuse.
- To understand which features work and how people find us, and to improve our recommendations and the app.
- To reply to you, and to meet our legal obligations.
We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t use it for targeted advertising.
How information is shared
- With other people, as you choose. Public profiles and posts are visible to anyone using Look Alive. A private profile’s posts are visible only to followers you approve. Your handle, display name and profile photo may still appear to others in search and requests. Anyone with a comparison’s share link can view it and vote.
- With service providers. They help us run Look Alive. They may use your information only to provide their services to us, and we require them to protect it to a standard comparable to ours:
- Supabase for sign-in and our database
- Google Cloud for storage, hosting and AI processing
- OpenAI for try-on generation
- Cloudflare for network delivery and security
- Resend for account emails and our internal safety alerts
- An SMS provider, through our sign-in service, for phone codes
- Vercel for hosting our website and counting page views
- With retailers. When you open a buy link, you leave Look Alive for the retailer’s site. Many links pass through our product partner Channel3’s link service. The retailer and Channel3 can see that visit, but we don’t send them your name, contact details or account ID. We may earn a commission if you buy. Your purchase is governed by the retailer’s own terms and privacy policy.
- For legal and safety reasons. We share information when required by law, or when needed to protect people, our users or the service.
- In a business transfer. If Look Alive is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, information may transfer to the new owner under this policy.
Where information is processed
We and our providers store and process information in Canada, the United States, and other countries where those providers operate. Laws there may differ from those where you live. Where your information is held elsewhere, courts, law enforcement and other authorities there may be able to access it.
How long we keep information
- Your account and content. We keep these while your account is open. You can delete individual posts, your saved try-on photo and previews at any time.
- Account deletion. When you delete your account in Settings, we start removing your profile, uploads, posts, comparisons, try-on photos and previews, saved and hidden pieces, and preferences from our systems right away. We retry automatically until removal is complete. Copies in backups are overwritten on our normal backup cycle.
- Unfinished setups. If you start setup but never create an account, we delete that setup and its photos after 30 days without activity.
- Usage events. We keep detailed usage events for up to 180 days and keep only aggregated statistics after that.
- Records we must keep. We may keep limited records longer where required by law or to resolve disputes, prevent abuse or enforce our Terms. For example, we keep a record that a deletion was completed for 30 days, and we keep reports and moderation decisions.
Deleting the app from your phone doesn’t delete your account.
Security
We use encryption in transit, access controls, and private storage with short-lived links for private images. No system is perfectly secure. If you think your account has been compromised, contact us.
Your choices and rights
- Change your shopping lane, profile, privacy and discoverability settings in the app.
- Delete posts, your try-on photo and previews, or your whole account (Profile → Settings → Delete account).
- Block people and report content from the menu on any post or profile.
- Turn off photo or camera access in your phone’s settings at any time.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or get a copy of your personal information. You may also be able to withdraw consent or appeal a decision we make about your request.
To make a request, email support@shoplookalive.com from the email on your account, or tell us the phone number you sign in with. We may need to confirm your identity first. An authorized agent may make a request for you with proof of authority. We won’t treat you differently for using these rights.
We don’t sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. If you’re in Canada, you can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or, in Quebec, the Commission d’accès à l’information.
Children and teens
You must be at least 13 to use Look Alive. In Quebec, people under 14 need consent from a parent or guardian. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; if we learn that we have, we will delete it. If you believe a child is using Look Alive, contact us.
Privacy Officer
Our Privacy Officer is responsible for how we protect personal information. Contact: Privacy Officer, Look Alive Technologies Inc., support@shoplookalive.com.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page when our practices change and revise the effective date above. If we make a material change, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. Where the law requires it, we will ask for your consent again.
